Oil Assistance Program
The Citizens Energy / CITGO Oil Assistance Program provides qualifying HDFCs with oil grants of up to 100 gallons per unit. This beneficial program encourages HDFCs to prepare for rising energy costs by requiring that they spend part of their oil savings on energy efficiency improvements in the buildings. All buildings must fill out an application and provide income verification in order to be eligible for the grants.
The deadline for participation in the 2009-2010 heating season has passed. If you are interested in participating in the 2010-2011 program, please check this page or contact Claire at (212) 479.3374 or fuel[at]uhab.org in the fall of 2010.
What does the program offer?
The Oil Assistance Program will pay for up to 100 gallons of heating oil per unit, delivered to qualified buildings during the program's heating season.
Who is eligible?
Qualification is based on the building’s average income. 80-100% of all residents, regardless of income, must complete the Income and Family Profile Surveys.
Can I receive my deliveries from my usual fuel dealer?
Citizens Energy will try to work with any fuel dealer you request. If your fuel dealer chooses not to participate or if you do not have a preferred dealer, one will be selected for you.
For Current 09-10 Participants
Buildings participating in the current year's program should have completed or nearly completed their oil grant. If you have any questions, concerns, or doubts, please contact Claire at (212) 479-3374 or meredith[at]uhab.org.
If you need an extra copy of the Weatherization Proposal form, it can be found here. The list of Qualified Energy Improvements can be found here.
